Sun Valley Destination Wedding

In July, I swapped Sydney’s coastlines for the Sawtooth mountain range of Idaho to photograph the wedding of two friends, Cara and Jeff. Their celebration in Sun Valley was a laid-back gathering of family and friends, full of personal touches and a warm sense of community.

Cara and Jeff chose Pennay’s at River Run as the hub for the weekend. It was a place where you could hike, take a refreshing dip in the river, or just sit back and enjoy the scenery. The river became the favourite hang for sundown swims and beers. It was here that the tone of the weekend was set. Relaxed and down-to-earth, taking in the beauty of the natural surroundings and making new friends.

Cara and Jeff curated a mix of activities that perfectly reflected their personalities, starting with a condo crawl and continuing with hiking and a group golf tournament. The wedding day itself featured a group hike before everyone gathered at The Roundhouse, accessed by a gondola with stunning mountain views. After the formalities, the celebrations carried on late into the night with friends DJ'ing at a bar in the town.

While Sun Valley is far from Sydney, the spirit of this wedding - genuine, heartfelt, and deeply personal - is exactly what I love to capture. I love connecting with couples who value authenticity and creating experiences that reflect their story.
